Spyware: The Spy Behind the Windows


spyware“Spyware” the very name has something secretive about it and it’s a very annoying cause of making your Internet experience a nightmare and making your PC on to work on the slowest side! Spyware has been hobbling around the vast storehouse of  information “The Internet” since its inception giving you the headaches about visiting websites without paying too much attention about the unsecured nature of it! Now the million dollar question is that how to get rid of it once attacked and most importantly how to refrain your PC from being attacked? The answer to this very old but unanswered(most often)question is systematically put forward as follows :
The first thing one need to know is what a “Spyware” is? Spyware is nothing but a computer software/program that is installed surreptitiously on a personal computer to collect personal information of an user, their computer or browsing habits without the user’s informed consent.So when you’re checking your Facebook ,Twitter ,Myspace or hi5 account,these spyware programs are actually stealing your passwords and changing your homepage to an undesired one which is actually the site of the source of the attacked spyware.

Tip #1:  Opening e-mail attachements from unknown users is a common way of getting blasted by a spyware.So,don’t accept attachments from unknown sender or else use a good e-mail scaaner.
Tip #2: Downloading applications (.exe file) of very small size just to play a media file offered by the site is worth putting your hand inside an elephant’s mouth. The exe. File installs the spyware into your PC  making your life hell! So, donot install .exe file of smaller memory allocation.
Tip #3: Sites with a lot of popups are a good means of intruding your PC without your consent.  So,stay away from sites that’s loaded with pop ups or else use a strong browser capable of blocking pop ups.
Tip #4: Try not using P2P softwares which is the biggest souce of spyware on net.Using Limeware or such softwares make your PC more prone to spywares,so try avoiding this and also the FTP browser link of your ISP(if provided).
Tip#5 :The installation of spyware frequently appears to be involved with  Internet Explorer. Its popularity among general user and history of security issues have made it the most alluring target. Its deep integration with the Windows environment and scriptability makes it an obvious target. So,try avoiding Internet Explorer as the default browser can be a helpful way of avoiding spywares.
